The Great Wall of China at Ba Da Ling
Just returned from almost two weeks in China. January is not the best time for a business trip there and I caught a bad cold. This photo is showing where it probably came from... pretty darn freezing and windy in the mountains.
Unbelievable how many people were there despite the bitter cold. In summer, it must be a zoo! We walked all the way up to the last tower. It is very impressive that this wall was build so long ago, and still stands. However, despite the effort it had no effect in preventing Mongolian invasions into China in the end... but makes for a great tourist attraction, complete with a Starbucks at the entrance.
