On our way home from Fürstenfeldbruck we stopped halfway for one night in Zürich - that's about all one can afford. $13 for two coffees at Starbucks? This is worse than Chicago! On the upside, we had a lovely day, it wasn't cold and the sun was shining. Zürich is a lovely old town and the houses in the old center often have their building years indicated. 1500 is not a very old one. Lots of pictures taken, check them out
on flickr!
Happy new year!

Munich Christkindlmarkt 2006
Christmas tree in front of the Rathaus on 23 December 2006. Not a very nice day but a lot of people on the road to do last minute shopping.

Weihnachten 2006
We are in Germany today to celebrate Christmas with the family in Fuerstenfeldbruck. Heidrun has decorated the tree and we are waiting for Santa Claus to arrive tonight!

Babycat newly interested in computing
Babycat recently discovered her interest in computers, as evidenced by the amount of hair left on keyboard and monitor - both approved rubbing devices. Not so great when you are trying to do something and a large purring furry object is obstructing the view to the screen, chasing the mouse (!) or just randomly pushing keys in the process of traversing the keyboard. On the other hand, no surprise either since it's nice and warm.
Ham Radio Lives!
With the help of our Chinese friend, who had never seen an amateur radio station before, I installed this beautiful 7-band vertical antenna on a 550cm mast behind the house. If my transmitter had a little more than 5W, I might even be able to talk to somebody... only a matter of time and choice of amplifier.
I was very pleased that the first station I picked up on 80m SSB was from Gernsbach, Germany, only a few clicks from home!
F5VLG / DL2GCU is now QRV on all bands again.
Six Sigma
So I am in Nice, Cote d'Azur, France and it is December. Barely made it here from Chicago where the winter arrived just in time to mess up the airport on the day I am leaving... Had to take a picture of the chaos on the roads so I can remember.
This is week two of the six sigma training and my head is spinning faster than you can say "expected range of variation".
I am only rambling and posting something, so check out my pics (yes, the palm trees are really growing here...) and be jealous. Must remember to come back here in the spring, a quick 3h bike ride down the route Napoleon...
A tout a l'heure!

Test: Which one is Nice (5 Dec), which one Chicago (1 Dec)??
